Senior Manager Security Services

An exciting vacancy exists at King Shaka International Airport for an experienced Security professional within the Airport Management Division

Key Performance Outputs

The successful candidate, reporting to the Airport General Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Translate National Security Plan (NASP) and develop local security tactical an operational plan for the airport (ASP);
  • Understand stakeholder security needs and translate into Airport Security Plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Coordinate and influence government agencies (SAPS, SSA) and other stakeholders’ security plans (e.g. retailers/ tenants / banks);
  • Manage surveillance system and overall security operations;
  • Manage access systems and processes of all airport staff, service providers, stakeholders;
  • Ensure efficient processing of all airport users and stakeholders (monitoring through ASQ and QMS);
  • Provide security specific inputs and facilitation on airport projects;
  • Manage Service Level Agreement (SLA) with ACSA security service providers in the airport;
  • Provide input into OPEX budget and track expenditure;
  • Lead cross discipline (government agencies, National intelligence, immigration, customs) contingency planning and risk management interventions for planned and unplanned events;
  • Accountable for operational team performance through effective management within policies and procedures to ensure achievement of standards / objectives;
  • Manage people development initiatives, succession planning and talent management to meet functional performance standards;
  • Ensure, monitor and operate according to ICAO, NKP, SACAA and other relevant Legislation and all ACSA policies;
  • Build, support and maintain healthy, diverse internal and external (airlines, government, internal airport operations, M&E) relationships to ensure achievement of organizational goals. Implement remedial actions where required

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:

  • Advanced Diploma in Security / Risk Management;
  • 5 years Operational experience in Security Operations;
  • 3 years Managerial experience in Security Operations;
  • Management Training (MAP etc) is recommended;
  • PSIRA Grade A registration is recommended;
  • Chief Security Officer (National Key Point) registration is recommended;
  • Knowledge of security technology, systems and intelligence;
  • Knowledge of National and International Security Aviation Regulations and Legislation would be an added advantage;
  • Proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office package is essential.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate in a diplomatic and tactful manner is critical. The ideal candidate must be customer oriented, confident and pay good attention to detail along with possessing the ability to inspire others to accept a vision of the future. Composure is critical in this position and the ideal candidate must be able to manage conflict, manage negotiations and manage the dynamics of power whilst building and maintaining social networks both inside and outside the Organisation.
